All Capitals in Writing

I receive quite a few questions about writing that is all in capitals, so here is a brief explanation.

When I comment to someone on the fact they write only in capitals, they always have a reason, an “excuse” for why they are writing this way.

True or false the reason doesn’t matter.  It is what it is.  The writer is wriitng in all capitals so the rules that govern this still stand.

The all capitals writer is hiding a great deal of emotion and feeling.  All caps writing is keeping everything in the middle zone.  There are no upper extensions and no lower extensions.  This has the writer focusing on the present, on immediate concerns rather than on the future or the past..

capitals only

Intuitive though this writer is, s/he is also somewhat isolated emotionally, and in communication with others and very much into self as far as feelings go.  This can result in behavior that one moment can seem empathetic and concerned with others (coming from the intuition) and self centered at others (coming from the isolation.)

lonely tree

These writers often feel lonely, but will take an independent, “I can go it alone” attitude rather than try to become part of a team.

Since printing does not allow the personality to show fully, it can used as an evasive tactic.
